Get to know Tim Tikkanen

Telling someone that they have “their head in the clouds” might get you an odd look. But not if it’s Tim Tikkanen. As Tamarack’s senior cloud infrastructure engineer, Tim actually does spend his days immersed in cloud technology. In his role, he designs, deploys and manages the cloud-based infrastructure Tamarack uses to deliver client-facing products. His work is instrumental in providing secure, scalable and cost-efficient solutions for our customers. When his head isn’t in the cloud, Tim enjoys spending time in Minnesota’s outdoors, fishing and camping as well as riding roller coasters when he gets the chance.

What do you enjoy most about your role at Tamarack?

The allure of cloud technology within IT is something I deeply appreciate. The rapid evolution of technology in recent years demands constant vigilance, adaptability and a willingness to embrace new knowledge. It's an exhilarating journey of perpetual learning and growth.

How did you make your connection to Tamarack?

I was introduced to Tamarack through a professional contact. After some discussions, I started working a few hours a night and realized it was a great fit. I've now made the move to Tamarack full-time.

What does life look like for you outside of Tamarack?

My wife Alysa and I have been married for 19 years. We have a 16-year-old son named Landen and a dog named Lola.

What outdoor activities do you enjoy?

I enjoy camping and fishing, but I never seem to get enough time to do so..

What is your favorite family vacation memory?

One of our most cherished family vacations was to Disney World. My son, around seven years old at the time, had never experienced roller coasters before. Initially, during our visit to Animal Kingdom, he was ready to head back to the pool after just an hour. It took some convincing to keep him around, but once we stumbled upon the Yeti roller coaster everything changed. He became completely enamored with it, wanting to ride it repeatedly. From that point on, the trip became all about hitting every exciting roller coaster in the park.
