In March, Tamarack celebrated Tim Appleget and Kevin Gjersvig earning their Certified Lease & Finance Professional (CLFP) designation from the CLFP Foundation. Tim and Kevin were among 20 individuals who sat through the 8-hour online proctored CLFP exam which tests knowledge of business practices within the equipment finance industry.
Following the announcement, we asked Tim and Kevin to share their thoughts on the value and importance of the CLFP designation.
What does the CLFP signify?
“CLFP gives a person recognition across the industry as one committed to its overall success and creates a special connectedness to other industry professionals,” said Tim. “It creates immediate credibility with those who are in or working with the industry.”
“The CLFP designation signifies that an individual understands the equipment finance industry and how it has evolved over time,” said Kevin. “Not only does the CLFP make for ethical and knowledgeable industry professionals, but it has significance to the industry because it gets everyone using the same language to communicate across businesses.”
What does it mean to earn your CLFP?
“Earning the CLFP offered me the opportunity to realize that I am a competent industry professional,” said Kevin. “The process of earning the certification served as a great experience to learn areas of the industry I was less familiar with. Attaining the CLFP has been a career milestone.”
“As a 30+-year industry veteran, it’s helpful to be recognized as one possessing familiarity with a broad range of industry processes,” said Tim. “This designation was an enjoyable experience and validates much of what I have acquired over the years as an industry participant in a range of different roles. It also will help the company I serve and its overall credibility and reputation in its markets.”
